This LEED® Silver accreditation was presented to Ramón Mayo, CEO of SEUR by Francisco Muñoz Soriano, President of Inurban, at the company's own logistics facilities in the Alicante town of Monforte del Cid.
This logistics centre, developed by the company Inurban, has been awarded the LEED® Silver certification granted by the US Green Building Council, which certifies that the logistics platform has been built according to eco-efficiency standards and meets the necessary requirements of sustainability, efficiency and innovation.
The LEED® certification programme (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) recognises with its certifications the design, construction, maintenance and operation of sustainable buildings with high energy efficiency.
This logistics centre, which has been operational since 2020, is located in Monforte del Cid (Alicante). Built on a 41,000 m² plot, it has 16,400 m² for storage, with capacity for more than 30,000 pallets, of which 5,200 m² are for the handling and preparation of orders arising from e-commerce.
It is a state-of-the-art logistics platform that is committed to sustainability and innovation to optimise the management of goods. The project for this logistics centre has been developed using BIM (Building Information Modelling) methodology, which is based on digitalisation and collaboration between the different agents in order to reduce wasted time and optimise resources in design and construction.
From this model, which is linked to the requirements of the LEED certification, the logistics are modelled, combining the different components of construction and installations, achieving a balance between the thermal envelope and the different installations.
Fundamental characteristics in the construction elements are the insulation used in the enclosures and roofs with a high degree of energy efficiency and low atmospheric impact. Skylights that provide natural light that is balanced with the lighting system using presence detectors. A smoke evacuation and air renewal system has been installed on the roof, which is activated by the pre-set indicators and provides indoor environmental quality.
The air-conditioning in the office area is designed to optimise the temperature according to needs and occupancy, combining this installation with an air renewal system, as is the lighting, which is regulated according to needs.
A special feature of the platform is the generation of energy through photovoltaic panels, which contribute to the sustainability of the platform in a clean and efficient way.
All these facilities are managed through a BMS management system (Building Management System) that allows automation and centralised control, achieving an intelligent building.
Thanks to this complex modelling and execution process, eco-efficiency and innovation seals such as this one are obtained, with which Inurban reinforces its commitment to environmental quality and sustainability in the design, development and construction of new buildings.
