Inurban has been awarded BREEAM certification for a holiday apartment block in Alicante

The holiday apartment block situated at 12 Avenida de Jijona, in Alicante, has been awarded BREEAM New Construction certification with a ‘Good’ rating, reinforcing Inurban’s commitment to sustainability as the cornerstone of its property development model.

What does this certification mean?

BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is the most widely recognised international standard for assessing sustainability in buildings. BREEAM certification, in its version adapted to the Spanish regulatory framework, assesses the environmental performance of buildings across ten categories: management, health and wellbeing, energy, transport, water, materials, waste, land use and ecology, pollution, and innovation.

The building on Avenida Jijona has achieved an overall score of 46.89 per cent, earning a ‘Good’ rating — which corresponds to two stars — with particularly strong results in the categories of energy, transport and waste.

A project designed to last

The asset forms part of Arabí Living, the investment vehicle launched by Inurban and managed by Iberia REIM, whose strategy focuses on creating new-generation urban accommodation in Spain’s major cities. The building in Alicante is the first of the developments under the strategic plan to reach the operational phase, and is already being operated by Limehome, an international flexible accommodation operator.

With 20 apartments designed for short- and medium-term stays — including family units and single units, some with spacious private terraces — the property reflects the latest trends in the hospitality sector and the serviced apartments model.

BREEAM certification is not a regulatory requirement, but a voluntary decision that reflects the kind of product we wish to develop: well-built, efficient buildings designed to last, with the lowest possible environmental impact.
