Inurban and Yecla Town Council have renewed their collaboration agreement for the second year running to sponsor the ‘City of Yecla’ National Open Air Painting Competition, which will be held on Saturday 26 October. This event, organised by the Department of Culture together with the Municipal School of Fine Arts, will turn the city into an open-air artistic stage between 8:30 and 17:00 hours.
The competition, which is open to artists of all ages, aims to fill the streets of Yecla with creativity. The day will begin with the registration and stamping of the works from 8:30 to 10:00 in the Municipal School of Fine Arts, after which the participants will be distributed throughout the most central areas and the suburbs to capture their artistic visions. At the end of the day, from 17:00 to 17:30, the works will be collected in the Parque de la Constitución, where a jury of experts in the plastic arts will deliberate to award prizes to the best creations. The prize-giving ceremony is scheduled for 18:30 in the same park.
The competition will have three categories: adults (over 18 years of age), youth (15 to 17 years of age) and children (9 to 14 years of age). A total of ten prizes will be awarded, totalling €4,160. Inurban will be responsible for awarding the third prize of €500, while the first prize of €1000 will be awarded by the mayoress of Yecla.
Pedro Camacho, director of the Municipal School of Fine Arts, stressed at a press conference that this event is ‘a celebration of art that allows citizens to see the creative process of the works up close’. For his part, Daniel Jiménez, Councillor for Culture, stressed that Yecla will once again be ‘a meeting point for artists from all over the country, who will work in emblematic areas of the city, filling the streets with life and art’.
At Inurban, we are proud to support cultural initiatives such as the ‘City of Yecla’ National Open Air Painting Competition, which not only promote art and creativity, but also enrich the life of the local community. This sponsorship is an opportunity to promote artistic talent and strengthen the link with our city, contributing to the collective well-being and cultural development of our environment.
