CETEM — the Murcia Region’s Technology Centre for Furniture and Wood — hosted a round-table discussion as part of the HERA Labs initiative, which forms part of the European HERA project (Helping Empower Women through Reskilling and Advancement), co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme.
HERA works to facilitate the professional reskilling of women aged 45 and over, combining tailored training, strategic career guidance and self-awareness tools. This initiative addresses a reality of the European labour market that we cannot ignore: the need to ensure that senior talent is not wasted and to build a more inclusive and equitable professional environment.
Our colleague Saray Muñoz, head of the legal department at Inurban, was one of four female leaders invited to speak at the event. During the session, she shared her professional journey and reflected on the challenges and lessons she has encountered throughout her career as a woman in the business and legal sectors, alongside other leading figures from various sectors: Josefina Garrido, head of R&D&I at CETEM; Nuria Mariño, director of the Yecla Adult Education Centre; and Rafaela Ortega, co-founder of Deortegas Almazara.
The debate provided an opportunity for in-depth reflection on the challenges faced by women in management and leadership roles, on overcoming invisible barriers, and on a message shared by all the speakers: it is never too late to learn, to start a business or to make a fresh start.
At Inurban, we support initiatives of this kind because we believe that equal opportunities in the workplace are a matter of substance, not form.
